CME at RCGP Annual Conference 2026
Glasgow | 29–30 October 2026
Collaborative Medical Education is pleased to be represented at the RCGP Annual Conference 2026 in Glasgow, where Dr Abraham Thomas will be presenting work exploring how artificial intelligence can support clinical learning and consultation preparation.
Using AI to Support Red-Flag History Taking
Abe’s conference work explores how AI can be used alongside NICE Clinical Knowledge Summaries (CKS) to help learners organise their approach to red-flag history taking.

The approach brings together a presenting complaint, relevant NICE CKS guidance, serious differentials and associated red flags to help learners identify the key areas they may need to explore during a consultation.
Importantly, the approach does not position AI as a replacement for clinical judgement. Instead, AI is explored as a supplementary learning tool that can help organise information, generate learning prompts and support learners in developing their consultation skills, while established clinical guidance and professional judgement remain central.
Built by Clinicians, Powered by Collaboration
Collaborative Medical Education brings together healthcare professionals to create practical, accessible and evidence-informed learning for GP trainees and those working in primary care.

More than clinical knowledge
The SCA assesses your ability to bring together clinical management, communication, data gathering and professional skills within a simulated consultation.
Our resources are designed to help you practise those skills in context not simply memorise information.
Communication
Practise clear, effective communication and build collaborative relationships with patients.
Data Gathering
Develop focused consultation techniques that allow you to gather the information needed to reach appropriate clinical decisions.
Safety Netting
Develop confident approaches to managing uncertainty, communicating risk and ensuring appropriate follow-up.
Why Collaborative Medical Education?
Designed around the realities of general practice.
Collaborative Medical Education is built on the belief that the best medical education is created with healthcare professionals, not simply for them. We bring together GPs and other healthcare professionals with clinical and educational experience to develop practical, evidence-informed resources grounded in the realities of modern primary care. By creating a collaborative community of clinicians, we aim to share knowledge, experience and effective approaches to learning, while giving healthcare professionals the opportunity to contribute their expertise and help shape future medical education. How We Help You Prepare
Understand, Practice, Reflect & Refine.
Understand
Effective SCA preparation starts with understanding what the assessment is actually asking you to demonstrate. Our resources help you develop a clear understanding of the SCA assessment domains, consultation structure and the skills required to bring clinical knowledge, communication and professional judgement together within a simulated consultation. Rather than focusing solely on memorising clinical information, we encourage you to understand how knowledge is applied in the context of an individual patient and their circumstances.
Practice
Confidence comes from applying your knowledge in realistic situations. Our preparation is designed to give GP trainees opportunities to practise consultations across a range of clinical presentations and scenarios. Through case-based learning, actor-led simulations, consultation workshops and structured practice, you can develop your ability to gather relevant information, formulate appropriate management plans, communicate effectively and respond to the needs of the patient within the time available.
Reflect
Practice is most valuable when you take time to consider what went well and where you could improve. Structured reflection can help you identify patterns in your consultation style, recognise areas of uncertainty and understand how your clinical reasoning and communication affect the consultation. Through feedback, discussion and self-assessment, we encourage learners to turn each practice experience into an opportunity for further development.
Refine
As your preparation progresses, the aim is to turn individual skills into a consistent consultation approach. Refining your technique means learning how to adapt your communication, clinical reasoning and management decisions to different patients and scenarios while maintaining a safe, patient-centred approach. Our resources are designed to help you strengthen areas that need further development, build consistency under time pressure and approach the SCA with greater confidence.
